Chapter 22

LINDOKUHLE

Menzi has called me to fetch him at the hospital and over the phone his voice was kinda raspy. Seeing his chubby cheeks like that really breaks him ,I mean he can't even eat or sleep anymore. He is really devastated and I pray to god that mafungwase wakes up because what will he be without her?

I pull over and wait for him by the parking lot .after few minutes I see him slowly walking towards the car and when he climbs in ,he first doesn't say anything but just lets out a shivering breath .I look at him and I could clearly see that he is heartbroken.

"Are you okay?"

Ohh who am I kidding? . obviously he is not okay ,dummy! .he shakes his head repeatedly while his tears fall.

"She lost all her memory ,she doesn't remember anything nor me broo!!"

He cries while having hiccups which clearly shows that he has been crying for too long .I bring him into my embrace and he cries even louder, the snorts and tears fall while his face is turning red.

"She doesn't remember me broo ,it hurts !!"

"Hey....hey"

I make him look at me while i feel the tears sting my eyes.

"It will be alright okay?"

"When broo ,when?"

"I don't know but don't lose hope ,maybe if you try to help her regain her memory she will remember you"

He shrugs his shoulders and let out a shivering breath .

" I don't know man ,maybe she will but I'm just tired .I want my chubby babyy back, "

"It will alright broo , I promise "

He nods and we bro hug which ends up him crying and sniffing on my shoulder.
My broo is broken and it hurts seeing him like this.

We drive to lebohang's township so that we can tell her the news about mafungwase. Few minutes later she walks out and she is so gorgeous, she's wearing a long black dress that is silky and it suites her so well.

We both climb out of the car and lean against it as she finally comes near us and stops on her tracks then folds her arms.

"Sanibona "

She greets and we greet back.

"You said you want to tell me something about mafungwase, is she okay?"

She asks with concern and we first look at each other then her. Menzi clears his throat then sniff.

"She woke up this morning "

She widens her eyes with excitement as menzi breaks these news to her . She quickly hugs us and our bodies becomes tense then she slowly let go off us and frowns as she senses the tense energy around us.

"What's wrong ,aren't you suppose to be excited?"

"She lost her memory "

Her eyes immediately fill with tears as I break the news to her.

"What do you mean ,she forgot about me ?. "

Her voice breaks and her lips trembles

"She forgot everything "

Menzi lowly says and sniff .lebohang repeatedly shakes her head while her tears fall and menzi gets in the car while i take her into my embrace. She lets her tears flow as I brush her back . Hearing her cry breaks my heart , they are going through alot and mafungwase is a close person to their hearts .This is just alot.

LEBOHANG

When menzi broke the news to me ,telling me that my boo lost her memory my heart shattered immediately and I don't know what to do with myself right now. She doesn't deserve this ,we don't deserve this .

What is funny is that we used to send each other reels asking what will we do if one of us lost their memory. We used to ask each other that not knowing it could happen for real .I really don't know what to do to help her .

As I'm in his embrace, his cologne is hitting my nostrils and gosh it smells so good .

"You smell good "

I whisper with the intention of him not to hear me. He chuckles and I think he did ,he tilts my head up and looks into my eyes .something inside me moves and it's not a usual movement.

"Thank you ,now stop crying everything will be okay"

I nod and he kisses my forehead then let go of me .

"By the way ,unblock me lebo. We need to talk for real"

Ohh he noticed? ,well that's attractive.

"What if I don't want to?"

"Then I will have to come here every night"

I scoff and he kisses my cheek then goes to the car .I turn around and watch him drive off while brushing my hairy arms .i don't know man ,i just don't want to catch feelings for him .I know how I act sometimes and that makes it difficult for someone to love me.

NARRATED

As he is placed in an white room ,he is rethinking everything that has happened . The way he was molested ,the way he gets depressed ,the way he abused his ex before mafungwase ,the way he punished everyone except for the one who hurt him and the way he almost killed mafungwase ,the one he really loved .

He regrets everything but he can't control it ,he can't control his mental issues ,he can't control the condition he has. It makes him different from others , makes him hurt others ,the ones who love him ends up fearing him .Maybe he does deserve to go to the mental asylum .

The physcologist enters and he looks at her as she sits infront of him . The dead look in his eyes is making her shiver plus the undeniable aura around him is making it worse .

"Mr Zulu "

She says and he gives her a sign to carry on .

"How have you been feeling lately?"

"Dead"

She clears her throat and notes something on her notebook.

"Why?"

"Almost killed the person that really loved me"

"Huh, what lead to that ?"

He narrates everything to her while she notes down.

"So when did you find out that you have bipolar?"

"Two years back "

" do you perhaps know what made you develop it or you were born with it?"

"I wasn't born with it ,i developed it through the trauma that I have "

"Can you narrate it to me?"

"No ,usungaphuma"

"But..."

He looks away and she sighs realizing that he won't speak any further. She walks out meanwhile he sheds a tear as flashbacks come back as a film.

AT THE HOSPITAL

He watches her pretty self asleep and his heart breaks as his chubby baby is lying there with no memories of them together, why is this happening to them ?. He kisses the back of her hand and let his tears flow while kissing it .

Hearing the sad sobs ,she slowly opens her eyes and sees him crying next to her ,kissing her hand. He lifts his head up as he feels her eyes on him . They lock eyes and it feels like the first time they held eye contact.

"Was i important to you?"

"Very ,very important chubby cheeks "

He says with a raspy voice .

"I'm sorry that I can't remember anything "

"It's okay babyy ,we will make new memories together"

He says standing up and looks at her for a moment.

"For now let's start small ,I'm menzi and you are mafungwase. Together we are lush and chubby cheeks "

She chuckles and it's the cutest chuckle ever.

"Nice to meet you lush "

He smiles and pecks her forehead while his tears flow on his cheeks.

"Damn I love you "

He whispers and brings her head into his chest then brushes the back of it and she hugs him back even though she can't remember anything, she feels the connection, a connection that was deeper than the ocean itself.
