Chapter 6

MAFUNGWASE

A month has passed and my friendship with menzi is still going strong . He is kind ,thoughtful and very funny also cute . I think I'm starting to have a crush on him but I'm not too sure .I mean he recently broke up with his girlfriend, so it would be too soon to date him or confess to him .ugggh he is so cute .

Me and lebohang walk out of the school gate and I see his dad's car ,is he here to fetch me ?. He gets out of the car and girls turn with him ,I must say he is more cuter today and he is dressed well .I wonder what's the occasion. He walks to me and opens his arms for me to hug him . We hug and damn his cologne!.

"Hey chubby cheeks "

"Hey lush"

I say while I'm on his chest and while we are still hugging, lebohang clears her throat and we pull away from each other then face her .

"Sorry"

I say smiling and she smiles at me.

"Soo boo are you going to introduce me to your friend?"

Yho kodwa lebohang please don't say anything that is wrong .

"Ohh uhm menzi meet lebohang , my best friend and lebohang meet menzi ,my friend "-

"Just a friend?"

He says looking at me and I roll my eyes .

"Kahle menzi"

Lebohang chuckles and extends her hand to him ,they shake hands .

"Nice to meet you menzi ,I've heard alot of things about you "

"Ohh really ,then I hope they are good things only "

"Well I'm not sure about that ..."

She looks over and her ride has arrived .

"Ohh bye boo ,it was nice to meet you menzi "

She says leaving us .

"Bye "

We say in unison and menzi puts his hands on his pockets. I fold my arms.

"So you are here to fetch me ?"

He nods and takes my school bag from me the we walk to the car . He opens the door for me and i climb in .he puts my bag in the boot and walks to his side of the car .as soon as he gets in ,he starts the engine .

"So you drove all the way from Yellowwood park to Umlazi, just for me?"

"Yeah I missed my chubby cheeks "

He plays with my right cheek and i giggle.

"Stop it lush ,so what about school ?"

"We got out early "

"Mmmmm"

He plays inhliziyo by mordecai and we both sing along to it .he steals glances of me then clears his throat .

"My mom wants your family to come for dinner "

Ehhh what now ?

"Aibo for what?"

"So they can get along "

This has something to do with us being friends, there's something wrong .

"Ohh okay. I will tell mom then "

"Thank you "

He kisses my cheek. As much as we are friends, he is very affectionate and I don't know why . I don't think a friend should be this affectionate to their friend, especially if you are opposite genders.

We arrive at Yellowwood park and he first drops me off at my home gate .before I climb off ,he kisses my cheek again and I look at him .

"Why do you like kissing my cheeks so much?"

"They are so soft and they are like marshmallows covered with chocolate "

I roll my eyes and i climb off , take my bag from the boot then close it .he makes a uturn then drives to his home gate .our houses are separated by only five houses and I think it dramatic for him to drop me off on my home gate ,I could've just walked from there .

I get in the house and close the door .both of my parents are not going to work and mom is already making dinner .ayy ngikhathele ,I'm not helping ,plus I got homework. So sorry mom.

After I did my afternoon routine and changed into my pj's, I get a call from lebohang. I answer it.

"Hey boo"

"Hey moony ,how are you?"

"I'm good and you?"

"I'm good "

"Okay ,so is that the menzi that you were telling me about?"

The excitement in her voice ,i knew that she wouldn't just let this go .she likes gossip too much .

"Yeah ,it's him"

"Girll ,he is soo fineeee"

I roll my eyes and chuckle.

"Stop being dramatic ,he is just a normal guy"

"Weeeh ,if only you saw how he was looking at you and how calm he was in your arms ,you wouldn't say this"

I don't know but that kinda makes my hearts jumps ,he was calm in my arms?

"What do you mean ?"

"Girl i think he likes you"

Not this again ,first simphiwe, now it's her.

"Weeh bye"

I drop the call and sigh .I look at the time and it's 20:00 . That means it's dinner time !, mom calls for us and i go to take my plate of food and go back to my room . I don't usually spend a lot of time at the sitting room with my siblings and I don't know why .I guess it's because I enjoy my own space.

While eating ,I receive a text from him .

'I want to see you '

'When?'

'Around 10pm'

'Aibo menzi ,how will i get out?'

'I don't know, i just want to see my chubby cheeks '

'Eish okay ,i will make a plan '

He sends me a red heart emoji .umenzi uyahlupha yazi .

While I'm washing the dishes, my phone lights up .I wipe my hands and take it .it's a text from menzi .

'I'm outside,wear warm clothes it's kinda cold out here and I don't want you to catch a cold .
Kissing that cheek through this text'

I chuckle then continue washing the dishes after I read it .

After washing the dishes, I wrap myself with my gown and thanks God ,everyone is asleep. I take the key and I walk to the gate then walk out and lock it . I look around and i hear a whistle ,he is standing by the passage .

I walk to him and he smiles as he sees me coming ,he opens his arms for me and I hug him .we stay in that position for a while then he lets go of me .

"Hi"

"Hi "

I say smiling while looking into his eyes ,I wonder why he called me here "

"You are so short "

I giggle, feeling butterflies in my stomach. Woahhh maybe it's my stomach acid not butterflies.

"Mxm ,why did you call me here "

"You know i enjoy being with you right ?"

"Duh , of course I know phela I'm the best hg ever "

"And you know that i wouldn't hurt you ?"

He is scaring me right now ,why is he talking like this?.

"Menzi kwenzakalani?"

"I have a new girlfriend and I told her about you "

"Ohh"

I say on a low tone .that kinda shattered my heart ,he has a girlfriend and it makes me want to cry .

"Why did you tell her about me ?"

"Because I wanted her to know about you and ......she want me to end our friendship "

A tear fall from my eye ,he wipes it with his thumb and brings me closer to him .

"Don't cry please chubby cheeks "

"I'm not crying "

I say looking away and he makes me look at him .

"Yes you are , look I'm sorry but i think she's the one "

"So you are ending us because of her?"

"I'm sorry "

He is soo evil ,after I got used to him and his touch , his cologne and his smile .he decides to do this!

"But you promised me lush "

"I know and it hurts me too but I want this relationship to work "

I chuckle.

"What about the dinner then ?"

"It's still going to happen "

I nod ,I wonder if she's pretty.

"Is she pretty"

"Yeah but not more than my chubby cheeks "

I smile while my tears fall, well this hurts more than I expected .

"I'm sorry"

He kisses my forehead and embraces me more ,making my head lay on his chest .

MENZI

Ending my friendship with mafungwase is hard and it hurts alot , i thought I was going to handle it but I can't .yazi i met her few weeks ago but she has impacted my life so much and became one of the most important people in my life .

I decided to do this because I think it's for the best ,lindiwe asked me to end our friendship so I did it because mafungwase doesn't deserve drama in her life .also I think lindiwe is the one ,she is promising .

Right now I'm holding mafungwase's soft hand as we are walking around the area .we are both quiet ,just our heavily sighs echoing.

"You should delete my number and block me on IG"

Woahhhh ,what?

"What ?"

I say stopping and she faces me .

"Our friendship ended so I guess you might as well block me "

"I won't do that "

"Kodwa menzi ....."

"I said i won't do that ,just because it ended that doesn't mean I won't check up on you or want to see your angel melanin face on IG , musa ukufuna ukungicasula la mafungwase "

She sighs , I intertwine our hands and we continue walking . I really hate the fact that she thinks i will just block her ,especially on IG .does she know how many hours I spent looking for her page and stalking her ?. Akangangihlanyeli la yena.

AFTER 2 DAYS.

MAFUNGWASE

I've been avoiding menzi since our friendship ended ,I don't want to speak to him .I feel like he betrayed me or something ,I mean he chose a girl over our friendship, a friendship that means alot to me .

I look at myself on the mirror and damn, this dress is beautiful and burgundy definitely suits me. Today it's the dinner night and I don't know how will i avoid menzi .I'm sure his girlfriend will be there ,I've been stalking her page and she is so gorgeous ,so no wonder he chose her .uggghhh this is exhausting and I hate it so much ,I hate thinking about menzi and his girlfriend and I hate the fact that I'm going to his house .motherfuckers!.

I walk out of my room and my family is finally ready to go .we all go to the car and the boys are going ride in simphiwe's car while me and dad are going to ride in mom's car .since we looked fabulous ,we couldn't walk like girl imagine !

Mom starts the engine and we drive off to menzi's home . After few minutes, we arrive at the gate and his brother opens it for us then mom parks the car .

We climb out from the car and we walk to the door ,I'm standing in the front and I knock. Menzi opens the door and his eyes glows with happiness, our gazes softens as we see each other .my heart is jumping and screaming while my stomach is full with butterflies, why am I feeling this way ?

"Babe?!"

A voice shouts at the background and we come back to reality, we clear our throats and he fully opens the door for us to come in .we walk in and he shakes hands with dad and my brothers as a form of greeting each other.

Menzi's mom and dad comes towards us with warm smiles on their faces and greets with hugs and handshakes while Aphelele and sthembiso are already at sthembiso's room . We follow his parents to the dining table and we sit down .

"Eyy kuhle kulomuzi mawabo"

Dad says complimenting the house and mom smiles .

"Kakhulu futhi"

Menzi's parents smiles

"Thank you so much "

Menzi's mom says placing cold drinks ok the tables.

"Can I help you at the kitchen mah?"

I offer to help and she agrees .I stand up from the table and walk to the kitchen when we arrive at the kitchen, we find menzi and his girlfriend kissing .I feel tears itching my eyes and my chest tightens.

"Can I go to the toilet mah?"

They stop kissing after hearing my voice then turn to look at us ,I think menzi notices the tears on my eyes and I quickly run to the toilet .

Gosh ,I can't be falling for him .he has a whole beautiful girlfriend, I know that he wouldn't love me .he sees me as a friend or he used to .I just don't know !.
