Chapter 8

MENZI

If I say I'm not missing her ,I would be totally lying. I miss her alot and she's not even answering my calls or had posted on her IG story .I guess seeing me exchanging spits with lindiwe got to her ,but why ?

I have alot of questions in my head and I just can't find answers to them ,why am I feeling this certain way about her ?

I hear a voice calling my name from a distance and I come back to my senses .I've been thinking about alot of things to the point that I zoned out from reality .

I wander my eyes around and everyone seems to be waiting for me to stand up and do the presentation. I look at the teacher as she looks at me through her pair of glasses.

"I'm waiting for you to come and present mr mthethwa. "

I clear my throat and I run my hands on my thighs then stand up .

MAFUNGWASE

That life science paper was so hard ,yhoo!.
But on the brighter side, atleast I'm done with my term 4 exams and now I will be able to read my novels in peace and love .kunini ngifunda ,ayyy!

I'm narrating about what happened in the morning to my friends and because of how stupid they are ,they choose to laugh at me .Can't they understand?. The situation there was so awkward but I kinda enjoyed talking to him you know.

FLASHBACK

After she got in ,her heart starts pounding faster and kept stealing glances of samkelo .He is still handsome and still loves wearing earrings, they suit him so well with his taper fade .

"You have to stop stealing glances of me, my caramel"

Is he talking to me? ,that's what she thought. He can't be talking to her .

"I'm talking to you mafungwase "

"I....I....I'm not stealing glances of you samkelo ,you are not special "

She stutters and he chuckles. She thought her crush on him would fade after a couple of years but it looks like she still like him alot. He still has that weird effect on her that made her nervous and obeying.

Samkelo had the biggest aura at her primary and he was even the head boy of the school .every learner obeyed him because of how he treated himself and other people. For a teenager, he has so much aura.

His dad looks at them through the mirror and he chuckles as he notices his son staring at her while she's looking away .

"You are beautiful my caramel "

"Ohh thank you samkelo "

The awkward situation between them is really tight and mafungwase is usually talkative but as she is next to her crush, she doesn't know what to say .the silence was maintained until her destination and bab' Zulu dropped her off .Before she climbs out ,samkelo touches her soft hand and she looks at him ,locking eyes then slowly moves her hand away ,climbing out .she bids her goodbyes and the car drives off.

MAFUNGWASE

I thought my feelings for Samkelo Zulu faded but I guess they never did .Seeing him today made me feel some type of way and that type of way is good .

I walk to the taxi rank and I'm exhausted as hell !. As i climb in the car ,my phone lights up .I sit down and open the IG notification, samkelo just followed me. OMG Samkelo Zulu just followed me!!!

Yep he definitely wants this caramel marshmallow!!.I click follow back and then minutes later ,he sends me a dm .should I respond to him ?

I mean i still like him but i think I like menzi too ,also I'm still heartbroken. Kodwa who cares ,I should just move on from him and continue with my life .so I'm going to respond to him and i start typing .....
I hope he won't find me boring ,ohh please dear lord !

SAMKELO

After the long day of school ,I've finally arrived at home .we recently moved here and I didn't expect to see my caramel .I stay five minutes away from her house which means i could see her at any moment. Man this is so great !

I throw myself on my bed and a notification pops up on my phone .she responded and followed me back!!

'I'm good and you ?'

That's what the message says and I'm reading it in her voice that is so soothing and cute .

'I'm good ,just wondering how will i see you again'

She reacts to my message with a laughing emoji. Hawu why is she laughing?

'Ngeke khehla ,why would you want to see me?'

' Because I want to spend time with you plus it was your last day writing the exams today .so can we atleast meet tomorrow, please?'

'Fine ,where do you want us to meet?'

'At the Montclair McDonald's "
'Okay'

I react with a heart emoji to her message. I'm so happy that she responded to my message, I thought she was just going to ignore me since she sees me as an arrogant boy .That's how she used to describe me to people during our primary days ."Tall ,arrogant, brown skin, maybe a cute smile ,always has a clean cut and uniform ,with deep black eyes and very , very rude .so if you want him ,you can take him but don't say i didn't warn you ,he is also a whore of a guy"

These are the words that she used when a girl told her that she wants me and from that day I knew that mafungwase likes samkelo ,man i was so happy but I had igwababa they say .I couldn't just approach her like she was some random girl ,that girl is different and ubengahleki nomayini .she was always quiet and frowning ,that alone made me fall harder for her .

MENZI

I see mafungwase climbing out of the taxi as I'm jogging and I stop on my tracks .I fix my gaze on her as she is smiling at her phone ,I keep on staring at her .I guess she sensed someone watching her as she turns around and spots me .

For a moment she looks like she's out of words ,like she is star struck or something. Our eyes locking as usual, I don't know whether I should run to her and wrap my arms around her or just continue jogging. She turns around to walk to her home gate but I run to her and fix my grip around her wrist ,which makes her turn around to face me .

"Let go of me menzi!"

She tries yanking her wrist of my grip but I hold her tighter. I bring her closer to me and wrap my hands around her waist as she is heavily breathing. I can't miss the anger and confusion in her perfect eyes .

She's gorgeous and so heavenly made ,why didn't I notice my feelings for her before I chose lindiwe because she is the girl that I've been waiting for .

"Wenzani menzi?"

"I....I...."

I'm stuttering, why can't I speak sooner ?

"Menzi njayami ,what are you doing to my caramel?"

I turn around and it's samkelo, what does he mean when he says his caramel?
