Chapter 7

MENZI

I hate seeing her cute self crying and I hate it more when I'm the cause of it .

"Chubby cheeks ,please open "

I softly say to her as I'm hearing her sobs .I'm really worried about her ,she has to open .I knock again and this time she opens .

"Are you okay chubby cheeks?"

She moves her eyes from my shoes to face then click her tongue and passes me ,walking to the kitchen .I sigh as I watch her walk away . Damn I didn't expect this and why is she even crying when we are not even dating?

MAFUNGWASE

I gulp down a glass of water ,I can't go back to the dinner table looking like this .I have to gather myself and act like nothing happened, this doesn't hurt me .

I sniff one more time then walk to the dining room .everyone is seated ,laughing and I feel the burning sense of his gaze ,I don't want to lock eyes with him especially when he is seated next to his girlfriend.

Jokes are being shared left, right and center while me and him are being the awkward one ,we keep on stealing glances of each other and that makes me melt but angry at the same time .

"Babe are you okay?"

His girlfriend asks touching his hand ,he was starring at me .I guess she noticed , everybody is now looking at him .

"Yeah, I'm okay mylove"

She nods and we continue eating .As I'm about to take a bite of my turkey, his father opens his mouth.

"Manje ndodana, do you see a future with lindiwe?"

We all look at menzi ,ready to hear the answer .this night has become more sour for me and it hurts so badly.

"I don't know "

He answers and his girlfriend looks at him .

"What do you mean that you don't know menzi?"-lindiwe

"Then who do you see it with ?"- bab' Mthethwa

"Maybe someone who is chubby cheeks "

I raise my eyes and we lock eyes ,why me ?
Sabelo and Simphiwe clears their throat .

AFTER A WEEK.

Today it's the last day of exams and I'm really happy but also nervous. I can't believe that next year I will be doing grade 11 ,time really moves fast .

I'm waiting for the taxi to come as a car infront of me ,I frown as the window rolls down. It's samkelo's dad ,my grade 7 crush .I wonder how did he notice me.

"Mafungwase mntanami ,get in "

"Ayy ngiyabonga baba "

And then the back window also rolls down.he appears and he is still handsome as ever.

"Please get in my caramel "

God his voice is soo ....ughhh!. I look at the time on my watch and I'm going to be late if I keep on waiting for this taxi ,so let me just go.

I go around the and climb .I sit next to him , I can't believe this .gosh he is so handsome and he still has this quite aura of his .

His dad starts the engine and drives off .
