Jade

Jade : Dad???

MaZulu : What did you just say?

*She asks him, and I'm also waiting for a response because what does he mean, "ingane omlungu?"*

Bhovungane : I'm sorry, my love. I didn't mean it like that .

MaZulu : Oh, I'm very sure you didn't .

*She says, giving him back, and he looks at me, giving apologetic eyes . I just turn my face and ignore him, too .*

Bhovungane : I apologized , fine. I'll get you guys whatever you want .

*We turn to look at him faster than a hurricane .*

Bhovunga : Just to show how sorry I am . I didn't mean for that to sound offensive . I just you have never officially told us that you were seeing someone. You're my baby, and I don't want you away from me .

Jade : I'll never be away from you . It's not like we're getting married, Daddy. I'm still going to remain your first love .

MaZulu : I'm still here . Just in case anyone forgot.

*Bhovungane winks at her, and she blushes. The anger out of the window just like that ? Yhoo*

Bhovungane : You're pregnant . Soon, he'll propose I've seen the way he looks at you, and I'll lose you forever . You'll be with him all the time, and I'm not saying it's bad. I'm just not ready to let you go.

Jade : Well, I'm not sure if he'll propose, but I want you to know that. I would never leave you and be anyone else's first love . You're my first crush. If you weren't already married to mom . I would've been your wife,
and I will never let anything come between us .

*He smiles, coming closer and perking my forehead. I smile and hug him back . Mom joins, and we laugh*

MaZulu : The doctor says they're changing your meds again.

Jade : Yes, I know

Bhovungane : Won't they harness the baby ?

Jade : No, dad, the baby is perfectly fine and healthy.

MaZulu : That's good . Do you know the gender yet?

Jade : Mom, my tummy is not even visible yet .

Bhovungane : When are you going to listen to the heartbeat?

Jade : In 2 weeks' time. Um, Mom and dad, there's something I have to tell .

Bhovungane : I want to be there.

*Mom gives him a look.*

Bhovungane : I mean, I would like the pictures, please. You can go with your boyfriend .

Jade :Haa baba, he's my man .

MaZulu : Could you guys stop and continue with whatever you wanted to tell us.

*I nod, making myself comfortable.*

Jade : I found a baby yesterday in the dumpster.

*There is a moment of silence . No one is saying anything . I think they didn't hear me.*

Jade : I said I found a baby in a dumpster yesterday .

Bhovungane : We heard you, baby. Is that why you're here ?

Jade : I think so.

MaZulu : Where is the baby now?

Jade : In the hospital. Under critical condition, and we gave her a name , Bridget.

Bhovungane : Yingane yomlungu? (It's a white baby?)

MaZulu : Baba.

*She sternly says . Daddy keeps quiet and pulls her closer to his chest .*

Bhovungane : Continue baby.

Jade : So we, um, didn't know if we should adopt like Theo or give her to you guys .

MaZulu : You were willing to give her to us?

*She says, already tearing up . My mom is such a cry baby.*

Jade : Yes, mom. I know you'll give her everything she needs, but we're still have our own little bug coming . We just want to enjoy the time together before he/she is born.

MaZulu : We don't mind, baby . You know I've always wanted to be a Grandma . The more the merrier.

*Dad has been quiet and smiling, admiring moms smile all along.*

Jade : Dad?

Bhovungane : I don't mind my child . I'll get her a Zulu name, and she'll be introduced to our ancestors. Talking about ancestors ensure that I meet that boy for damages before the child is born .

Jade : Damages? But dad....

Bhovungane : I said, ensure I wasn't pleading with you. If he's serious, he'll also pay lobola (dowry )

Jade : Mom??

*She shruggs smiling at her husband .*

Bhovungane : I want alive real cows . Even a horse for impregnating you before marriage.

*What's wrong with him. Where the hell is Dante suppose to get all that?*
