WRITTEN IN THE STARS 25

SBANISENKOSI

I notified Mrs Biyela that I'm going to see my mother and probably sleep at home. I'll come back tomorrow, I just need to refresh and think about what just happened. I know Sethu is safe with him so I decided to leave her behind. I get to my parents' house and park the car, I jump off and walk inside.

“Sbani?” Mom says coming from upstairs, I close the door and heave a sigh.

“Hey mom.” I say walking to her, I give her the biggest hug and heave another sigh.

“What happened? I thought you were at your inlaw's house..” She says.

“I wanted to come here, if i stay in that house for another minute then I'm gonna go crazy.” I say.

“And where did you leave Isemihle?” She asks.

“I left her there with Nkanyezi ma, can i have some water? I'm sweating.” I say, she nods and pulls me to the kitchen.

“What happened? you don't look okay.” She says.

“I'm not okay Mom, at all.. I found him with his ex in the shower probably an hour back.” I say, she frowns and glares at me.

“What?” She says, I nod.

“Their bodies were pressed together mom, she was too close to her and when I walked in, he pushed her off.” I say.

“So you want to tell me that boy cheated on you?” She asks, I shrug.

“He keeps saying they didn't do anything but what if I hadn't walked in? they would've have s-x” I say, she shakes her head.

“Why is he doing this to you? you two have a baby together.” She says.

“And we're engaged..” I say heaving another sigh.

“What are you going to do about this?” She asks, I shrug again. I genuinely don't know.

“I don't know, I just need some time to clear off my mind. I don't want to lose him but also, it's clear that he's weak and would give in at anytime that he wants.” I say.

“Have some water..” She says, I nod and take the glass from her. I gulp down the water.

“You should've have left, what about the baby? She might need you.” She says.

“She'll be fine, He knows how to calm her down more than me. I'll go in the morning, I just need to rest my mind because if I don't then I'll lose control over myself.” I say.

“Hmm, lemme start cooking. Your dad is not home though, he'll be back soon.” She says, I nod.

“Hasn't Sipho visited yet?” I ask her.

“He came last weekend and then left, you know how varsity life is.” She says.

“Yeah I know, as long as he's still visiting you guys. We often talk over the phone.” i say.

“And Luzuko?” She asks.

“Last time I talked to him he said he's taking Reatlegile to some baecation what what.” I say, she nods.

“Atleast they're okay now. That's all that matters, truly.” She says, I nod a bit and zone out. All I keep wondering is what if I hadn't walked in, then he would've cheated on me, is he unable to commit himself to me when I have obviously given my all to me. Why is he failing? Even with a fiance and daughter he's failing, what's happening.

“Senkosi..” My mom calls me out and I snap out of it.

“Hmm?” I say.

“Grab a snack for yourself in there while I prepare food.” She says, I shake my head.

“I'll go lay down, I'm fine for now.” I say getting off the high chair and walking out of the kitchen. I head upstairs and go to my "old" room. I get in and throw myself on the bed. . . . CHRISTOPHER

I place my phone down, she isn't even answering her phone. I thought when I said she must leave Sethu behind, she's not gonna leave but she left.

“Ma why did you let Sbani go at this time? it's not safe out there.” I say to her, she glares at me and frowns a bit.

“Why did you let Nicole get that close to you naked?” She asks, I keep quiet. I already feel bad enough and she's making it worse.

“Nicole and I weren't gonna do anything even if Sbani didn't walk in. I wouldn't cheat on someone I stopped whoring around for her.” I say.

“But you let her get close to you, imagine how she felt at that moment seeing you so close to that girl..”  She says.

“Did you apologize?” She asks, I shake my head.

“She didn't give me a chance to apologize, even now I've been trying to call her but she's not taking any of my calls.” I say.

“What are you going to do if Sbani decides to leave you?” She asks, I heave a sigh. That's my worst fear...

“Fix things, go get the mother of your daughter and your fiance. You not doing anything to convince her says a lot to her so man up and go pick her up. This is the woman you're supposed to marry Nkanyezi..” She says.

“Will you look after Sethu?” I ask her, she nods.

“You can go..” She says, I get up from the chair and walk upstairs. I grab my car keys and kiss my daughter's cheek before walking out and heading out. I don't know why I suddenly feel so anxious..

I walk outside and jump in my car, I unlock it and jump inside. I then start the engine and drive out. I don't know.. I feel like something is wrong. I dial Nkanyiso's number as it rings a couple of times.

“Hey bro, what's up?” He says answering.

“Man.. I don't know what's happening, something's wrong.” I say starting to sweat.

“What do you mean? you're on the road where are you going?” He asks, I breathe heavily..

“Look, something happened and Sbani left. I think she's going to leave me, ah my head..” I say, it's starting to get heavy.

“Stop driving, park your car on the side and send me your location.” He says, my chest tightens up and my heart beats slowly.

“Christopher, stop the car and park it on the side!” He shouts, I try stopping the car but suddenly feel my head spinning and my vision getting blurry.

“Sbani..” I whisper, I feel my head banging on the steering wheel and multiple honks repeatedly being made by other cars.
