KGOTHATSO .

CHAPTER 05 .

— MOFOKENG HOUSEHOLD .

She jumps off the car as she quickly runs inside because it's dark and she's scared of the dark . She knocks on the door and her little sister , Gosiame opens up .

Gosiame : it took you a long time .

Kgothatso : well I'm here now .

She walks in and sighs ..

Kgothatso : Is Kgothalo here ?

Gosiame : yeah he just arrived .

Kgothatso : Kelebogile and Rea ?

Gosiame : they're also here .

She follows her to the lounge ..

Kgothalo : oh if it isn't my better half ..

Kgothatso : (sighs) hey ..

Masentle : how are you ?

She throws herself on the couch .

Kgothatso : confused , that's how I feel .

Masentle : coffee ?

Kgothatso : water will do . Where's grandmother ?

Masentle : she's taking a bath , she'll finish soon .

Kgothatso : okay ..

Kgothalo : so ..

Kgothatso : lets wait for grandmother .

Kelebogile : we might be preparing for a wedding here .

Realeboga : I think so too .

Kgothatso sighs ..

Kgothatso : I met him though .

Realeboga : is he good looking though ? What's his name ?

Kgothatso : I can't answer anything right now but his name is Mandlawenkosi .

Kelebogile : the name is godly on its own .. I have a good feeling about this .

MaMofokeng steps out of the bedroom and sits on the couch ..

MaMofokeng : so ..

Kgothatso : I think I'll marry him .

Kgothalo : you are ?

Kgothatso : he's gonna lose his life if I don't marry him and help him . He looks so bad , his condition isn't satisfying at all .

MaMofokeng : I'm glad you got to meet him .

Kgothatso : it feels much better now that I know who he is and what is happening .

MaMofokeng : Mandlawenkosi right ?

Kgothatso : Mandlawenkosi Ndlovu .

Realeboga : you're even blushing ..

Kgothatso : I'm not , I'm actually stressed ..

Masentle : it's your first time getting married , the only time you'll ever get married in your life .

Kgothatso : and this is not how I pictured everything . 

MaMofokeng : it's going to be hard to adapt but it's the story of your life .

She nods .

Kgothatso : they're gonna send a letter tomorrow asking for my hand in marriage .

Kelebogile : we will be right here expecting the letter .

Kgothalo : how old is he ?

Kgothatso : I don't know but he looks like he's in his late twenties or early thirties .

Masentle : your preferred age group .

Kgothatso : so I am getting married .

MaMofokeng : (smiles) you're finally getting married .. oh now my heart will be at peace .

Masentle : I always thought you'd be lonely forever but my dear , you're proving me wrong .

Kgothatso : not that I like it or anything .

Realeboga : so how did you feel when you first saw him ? how did it feel ?

She sighs .

Kgothatso : I had tears in my eyes but I didn't cry .

Masentle : so you felt emotional ?

Kgothatso : kind of , he was in a lot of pain and he only became better when I kinda held his hand and did the things .

Kgothalo : critically proving that you're getting married to him for a reason .

MaMofokeng : after they send the letter , we must meet him .

Kgothatso : you'll talk to his family about that .

Gosiame : congratulations sis ..

Kgothatso : thank you ..

Masentle : let me go and dish up for you .

Kgothatso : greens only .

Masentle : yes ma'am ..

She chuckles ..

Kgothatso : thank you ma ..

Masentle : you're welcome baby .

Her mother walks to the kitchen ..

MaMofokeng : is your back still hurting ?

Kgothatso : not anymore but the mark is there .

MaMofokeng : hopefully , when he heals . You'll also heal ..

Kgothatso : yeah ..

Realeboga : you're gonna make a beautiful bride .

Kgothatso : I'm not having a white wedding , the sangoma clearly stated that it's a traditional wedding as per the ancestors' request .

Kelebogile : still , your dress is gonna be giving , Zulu wife in the building .

Kgothatso : anxiety .

MaMofokeng : it's a good thing you know how to perform wifely duties , Mandla won't struggle .

Kgothatso : yeah yeah ..

— NDLOVU HOUSEHOLD .

Bab'Ndlovu : are you done ?

Mpiyakhe : the letter is done and dusted .

Bab'Ndlovu : hmm , you're gonna drive there and give a child outside the letter so he/she could take it inside .

Mpiyakhe : yes Dad .

Bab'Ndlovu : we must introduce her as soon as possible .  She must come home .

Mpiyakhe : yes ..

They glance at Mandlawenkosi who's sleeping ..

Bab'Ndlovu : my boy can't handle the pain anymore .

Mpiyakhe : but he seems better ever since she came here , specifically told him that he must be tough and not let this thing take over him .

Bab'Ndlovu : that's the type of woman he needs , not those lousy women who run away when he worsens .

Mpiyakhe : exactly , when last did you see Zobuhle ?

Bab'Ndlovu : it's been a long time , she is selfish . As they say , a true partner will stick with you through thick and thin .. in sickness and in health ..

Mpiyakhe : right and Kgothatso is doing just that .

Bab'Ndlovu : I must meet my daughter inlaw soon , I feel impatient now .

Mpiyakhe chuckles .

Mpiyakhe : she's so gorgeous , you wouldn't say she's a spiritual healer .

Bab'Ndlovu : hmm ..

Bab'Ndlovu's phone rings ...

Bab'Ndlovu : Manzini ...

He picks up the phone ..

Gogo Manzini : The Mofokeng family would like to meet Mandlawenkosi tomorrow after you drop off the letter .

Bab'Ndlovu : they called ?

Gogo Manzini : Kgothatso called , her grandmother requested ..

Bab'Ndlovu : we'll take him tomorrow then ...

Gogo Manzini : and the negotiations must be held this Saturday , I had said that we don't have time .

Bab'Ndlovu : yes we'll prepare everything , just ask for guidance or something .

Gogo Manzini : I will .

He hangs up ..

Bab'Ndlovu : it's done .

Mpiyakhe : you might be getting grandchildren soon , after a few years of having 2 only .

Bab'Ndlovu : right ? That's what I'm hoping for . I want Mandlawenkosi to build a very big family , this family of ours must expand . We're building a legacy here .
