[the next day]

i was woken up by mom shaking me ‚ i sat up straight & rubbed my eyes .

mom : they’re coming in an hour .

me : okay sharp .

she walked out ‚ i stood up & fixed the bed then went to the bathroom ‚ i took a quick shower ‚ lotioned then wore my undergarments ‚ i wore my white long tight dress then wore my white socks & my white puma sneakers . mhmm i look so gorgeous ‚ i wrapped a doek around my head then took my bags & walked out .

mom : baby remember to always respect them .

me : you know i don’t take bullsh*t right ?

mom : i know but please .

me : so after marrying their son ‚ the debt is paid off .

mom : yes i think so .

me : don’t think so ‚ it means i’m marrying him for free .

mom : i’m sorry baby ‚ this is not how i expected things to turn out .

me : i don’t blame you .

mom : okay .

i wiped her tears then kissed her cheek ‚ a knock came through .

mom : that must be them .

me : okay .

she went to the door & i fixed my dress ‚ okay asante you got this ‚ mom opened the door & a woman stood by the door .

mom : good morning ma zulu .

ma zulu : hello mrs nxumalo .

mom : you can come in .

she walked in & her eyes met mine ‚ she smiled .

ma zulu : is this her ?

mom : yes where’s your husband ?

ma zulu : he is busy that’s why he sent me here .

mom : okay take a seat .

me : good morning .

ma zulu : hey lovie .

she sat down & mom pulled me to the kitchen .

mom : make tea for her .

me : wait .

i went back to ma zulu ‚ she smiled .

me : ma would you like some tea ?

ma zulu : no ‚ i’m not here to stay .

mom walked in & smiled .

mom : oh ?

ma zulu : yes ‚ FEZILE !!

she shouted ‚ two man in black suits walked in .

ma zulu : take her bags to the car .

they nodded then walked out ‚ she stood up & sighed .

ma zulu : you’ll find me in the car .

me : okay mah .

she walked out ‚ mom hugged me so tight & tears rolled down her cheeks .

mom : i’ll miss you so much baby .

me : me too mama .

i pulled out & smiled ‚ she held both my hands .

mom : if she treats you unfairly ‚ kick her a$$ !

me : definitely !

we giggled then she walked me out ‚ i got in a black SUV . mom waved goodbye even though i know she’s not seeing me because the windows are tinted . the car started moving & i sighed ‚ okay let’s see what they have in store for me .
