CHAPTER 5

Astrid woke up to birds chirping and tittering all around the window. She groaned because she did not want to wake me. She sat up yawning and stretching her body. She went to take a shower. The smell of eggs caught her nostrils, and she sniffed, sighing. She needed breakfast and was glad Dorian was putting effort into making it. She got dressed in a purple dress. She glanced at the mirror, smiling happily at how she looked. She walked downstairs, finding Dorian dishing up for them on the table. She smiled and saw him but it was fake. He stiffened seeing her smile.

"Don't." He said calmly.

"Don't what?." She asked.

"That's not how you smile, Astrid. I know that's fake." He said.
